So several of My friend's Viking x Ampullaria lately have been showing this symptom and I have never seen this either so would love to hear anyone who has experience about this to help out with:

The leaves will suddenly have these green strikes over the surface and the leaves will be yellow-ish like this. On the back of the leaves there are no such green strike

Then the next leaves that come out will turn white-ish like this. Really weird then gradually the top of the plant will turn black and no new leaves be able to come out. The stem will gradually turn dried as the result and only if the plant is strong enough then new bud can get out otherwise, plant will be dead

I rule out the black stem rot in this case since it started with the leaves. A heathy mature vk x amp will have leaves that have green lines like this and then only when the new leaves that come out turn white-ish then the plant will turn black from the top then that goes down

Please see the pics for the green marks here

@nimbulan: thank you for your feedback. My friend actually thought the same way and supplement it with diluted fertilizer, and also has magnesium as well, for the past 4-6 weeks but nothing has changed yet so he is now clueless. I don't know what it is either and he sent me some photos of the whole plants with roots as well and look strange to me with thin and not many strands of root with red dots all over the place. The tip actually looks like it got bitten off by sth. I dont know, if anyone could help that woudl be great

Looks like salt burn to me. Keep growing medium and water low in mineral as much as possible. Don't fertilize on weak plants. Regular pitchering is a good indicator that they are ready to take diluted fertilizer. There is no pitcher on these plants.

Not sure where you are... can't comment about temperature and humidity. Amp hybrids prefer some shade if you live in the tropics.

Hi, the temp in my friends place is around 28-35 C degree, I think he got his own dripping irrigation system and has 50% shade cover. He used coco parts, cut in small squares of 1-2 cm square. He told me that some can put out pitchers but some cant. Happened to thin leaves variety, kampot, graciliw, tricho, those r usually are really strong but they are now infected with this. He is a merchandiser so has more than 100 pots and he uses the same substrate.

He told me he did rinse off the coco part before using so not sure why. He also told me that the grass that grows in the pot also exhibits the same symptoms. He put the diluted fertiliEr into the grass and they look greener again but then after a few days, they look white again
