I found a couple seeds in pineapple I grew (technically I found them in my mouth) as I was eating it last Fall and thought, "Why not?". It took around 2 months to germinate; I had counted them both duds. It seems to be taking to the media well, so far. I wish I hadn't poked the seed so far down in the media so it could get some air but it looks like it's starting to make its way towards the surface though.

Definitely! I bought one plant at Home Depot a few years ago and after we ate it sliced off the top, and planted it and have been keeping it going that way ever since. Remove all of the fruit flesh you can so that it doesn't rot, tear off lots of the bottom-most leaves until some roots or root buds are exposed, then just stick it in dirt and keep it barely moist. There's some how-to videos on youtube. Mine usually stay dry a lot of the time between moistening. You'll know it's worked when the existing leaves start growing longer. If it fails, the center-most leaves will pull right out. For me it takes it two years to produce another fruit, but you can also keep the mother plant after you pick the pineapple. The mother itself is done after it bears fruit, but it will grow pups that can give you fruit. So I've been getting 1 pineapple per year! Just don't forget, they're tropical, so they have to stay warm in the winter, and they're 4-5 ft in diameter. Whatever variety I have does ok down to about 50 F and does ok over the winter in a sunny window. I now have 4* plants plus this little guy in TC, which looks like it has split into 2 already.

*One pot has about 5 pups growing together. I was going to separate them this Spring, but one of them flowered and is growing fruit.

Ideally they don't because it degrades the flavor of the fruit, but if one of the flowers is pollinated, it will bear a seed. I'm pretty sure it's a pineapple seed since I was eating the pineapple and pulled the seeds out of my mouth :) This was the first time I had found a seed so I was pretty excited when I found them and more-so when I saw one had sprouted!

Jaws - I had misread your post as "Is it" instead of "It is".

I just used my VFT media. 1/3 strength MS w/ full strength Gamborg's B5 vitamins and PPM. It seems to like it. It's now broken through the surface.

Overdue Updates!

The twins are doing well! I left them in their second vessel for too long and they got contamination (mold), so I transferred them into sphagnum moss a few weeks ago. They're doing very well and growing quickly despite having been given no fertilizer so far. I'm working on acclimating them to dry conditions and will feed them soon.

Their growth stalled for a bit when they were in need of some fertilizer. It took them a couple weeks to make use of the fertilizer after I added it but they're now growing pretty quickly again. I've been gradually adding more holes to their plastic cover and finally removed it yesterday. They seem to be doing ok with it. The tips are showing a little bit of stress but I think they're also ready for more food. I'm going to move them into their own containers soon and ditch the LFS.
