I have a big batch of VFT seeds from last years harvest that I'm trying to grow under a 4-bulb T8 shop light @6500K. I have one small batch sitting on damp paper towels in a chamber that I made and the other bigger batch is on top of sphagnum moss in a second home-made germination chamber. I couldn't seem to find any good recommendations on exactly how much light to give the seeds per day prior to actual sprouts popping out.
My temps are between 80 to 88 degrees inside the germination chamber with plenty of moisture and I leave it on a heating pad 24-7. Temperature is regulated by adjusting how much of the chamber is covered by plastic wrap.
How many hours a day should I leave the lights on? I currently am leaving them on for about 16-18 hours straight and then shutting it off for about 6 to 8 hours and turning it back on. Should I (or is it better) to just leave the light on all the time until the sprouts start to (hopefully) come out?
Thanks!
