The problems I have with VFT seedlings is over watering and not enough light. Imo its easier to start them in LFS and just blast them with light. They seem to like fluoros a few inches from the top of them but youll have to watch them because heat from the lamps could dry out the top of the media.

I just fill about a inch in the bottom of my water tray and leave it there for a couple hours then dump it out and I do that about ever 3 or 4 days

That.^ My seedlings are an inch and a half from the bulb of a T5 (not HO) and they do great. I do have to mist them every morning, to keep the top media from drying out.
