Ah nice Matt,

You have a really nice collection there, I'm quite interest in the fuzzy trap, and why it's called that? I see you got cudo, I bet your stoked about that, I've heard little tid bits on that plant, but what is the main interest about it? I'd be horrified if I lost it with all the other vfts since it's so tiny.

To be honest, I'm not sure yet Ron. I haven't seen a good photo of it. Judging by what some of the older traps looked like, it appears to be similar to 'Fused Tooth'.

I had no idea how tiny it really was! I too would be horrified if I lost it. I'm not sure what the main interest in the plant is other than it's small and has a very peculiar growth pattern. Also, I think some day soon it will be an official cultivar.

Cool! Here's a rookie question: What explains the variation in color on VFTs? I see that some of these are a deep red, others are green, and some have green with some redness on or in the traps. Is this just a difference in particular breeds/species, or does it have to do with feeding and environment?

Both. Coloration is primarily controlled by genetics. That is, a red-leafed flytrap has the ability to become red because of its genetics. And all-green flytraps will never attain any red coloration because of their genetics. But other factors, including growing location, amount/kind/strength of lighting, time of year and many other factors affect flytrap coloration given that flytraps are genetically inclined to show color.

Hah, yes, not sure how he dug it up, but this thread is 5 years old. The BCP A25 was kind of a bust for me. It's an OK plant, but certainly nothing extraordinary (hence the reason I've not propagated it for sale).
