Hi all!

I'm so excited! I just got another D. Capensis from a great nursery down in Virginia on vacation! Though small, it is thouroughly covered in gnats and seems quite happy. In addition, it is in a nice, big pot. Because of all this, I don't want to bother the plant since it is growing so well. The only thing is that it is in pure sphagnum peat moss. Can I still use the tray method, as with the rest of my plants, and can I grow it in this, so long as I am careful not to overwater?

Drosera capensis won't mind the wet soil (I've kept one alive in pure water). I would recommend the tray method if you're keeping them in full sun or in hot conditions to prevent them from drying out.

I really love my Drosera capensis! To quote Peter D'Amato in his book The Savage Garden (great read, by the way), capensis is the ultimate beginner's sundew because it can thrive in almost anything. They are pretty and easy to care for. I am really glad that you have decided to get a D. capensis. You won't regret it and watching them curl over prey certainly is entertaining!
