I am wondering what is the largest purpurea may be like. Post if you have gigantic ones. To be handy better compare it with a dollar bill.

By the way, do you guys have mushrooms growing in your planters? I've recently discovered that I do.

That's definitely a good question. Below is the largest one I've ever GROWN, but they can get even bigger than this!!

On the left is S. purpurea ssp. purpurea from Caroline Co, VA purp purp, and on the right is a "regular," mature sized S. purp. purp. Marl bog form from Bruce Co, ON:
