The 3 currently common power levels of LEDs are half-watt, 1-watt and 3-watt. I have several 1-watt LED arrays, like you have although a different brand. First you have to see what the coverage pattern and area are for the lamp, so that you know how high you have to raise it to give light to everything you want under it. In my setup of 1-watt LED lights, the bottom of the lights are about 17 inches (about 43 centimeters) above the soil surface.

Wow, that far away? I thought with LEDs the idea was to get them as close as possible? I would have thought the low intensity (compared to CFL/HPS) LED lights would struggle to penetrate any sort of canopy at that height?

I'm not saying you are wrong. The light says it has a 1m - 1.5m sq coverage. The only way it could cover that much area is at the heights you mentioned. I'm just trying to understand how these things work :)

So far i am impressed with how cool these things run. With the fans going the plastic screen over the lights is only slightly warm to the touch. plants or methylated spirits doused kindling could be touching the light without chance or burning.

Steve, how have you found your LED rig compared to other types of lights? Have you noticed any major difference in plant development such as, colouration, growth and over all health?

Thanks :D
