I came across this guy on tumblr that grew his D. capensis in a bowl of water. Heres the pic:

Anyway it has flowered multiple times since he transferred the plant to the bowl and looks to be very healthy. I might try doing the same thing with one of my newly sprouted root cuttings. Any ideas?

I'd recommend doing that with an adult plant or one that's close to maturity, since you will need to feed it regularly in order to prevent it from shrinking unless it's grown in soil. You could add some very dilute fertilizer in there, but a nice glass bowl would become green with algae lol.

if your root cuttings are big enough, no reason why you shouldn't be able to give it a shot!

Hmmmmm, interesting.
You'd need to use some sort of netting to suspend it. I may just try this...
