A few weeks ago, I received a Pinguicula gigantea. It is a large plant with 3 to 4 inch leaves. It's kind of growing in a smooshed-together manner because I think it was a sideshoot of someone's gigantic clump of a plant.

A few leaves were damaged in shipping as usually happens. I didn't pay any attention to it. I just potted it up and bagged it for about two weeks.

When I removed the bag, I saw an explosion of little plantlets growing from the damaged leaves. This makes me think that here is a Ping for people who can't grow Pings.

So it looks like another giveaway coming soon. How soon can these little guys leave the nest and go out into the big world?

Is there any interest in a Pinguicula gigantea giveaway?
I have a hard time believing anyone would want a plant that isn't a Drosera. (JUST KIDDING!)

And what do you call these little creatures? Are they Pinglets? Or are they Pinglings?

Good growing,
Mike

I cant grow pings to save my life. I would be interested in a ping I might not kill.

I vote for the name pingling, it rolls off the tongue well.

I just sent out a gigantea this size here. Although I can't remember how old it was. A few months I would imagine.

I agree with twitterglitter. Pingling sounds fun! I suppose people have different methods of transplanting or repotting them. I always wait until i see the little white roots and then i get them into whatever media I decide to put them into. Most of the time live moss works well for me. Trimming it is the part that can be a chore. Heres a little clump of "Pinglings" lol. The leaf fell off of one of my ping shelves and by the time I found it, there was about 20 strikes on it. The leaf was partially spent, so I cannot positively ID it until I see flowers someday. It is now on my large rack of p.noids :D

I just thought of one more name for baby Pings, how does "Ping-a-Ling" sound? The ghost of Chuck Berry is shaking his head at that one.

Good growing,
Mike
Oh no! Lol. I lost it with this one. Lol

Man, them snappers all around my feet
Sure was hard swimmin' 'cross that thing"

Best song ever!
