Has anyone tried using an LED grow light? How far from the plant would you suggest keeping the light?

Hello and welcome to flytrapcare!

Yes hackerberry uses LED lights. I'm sure he'll chime in here and give you a good answer. But, as is the case with most artificial lighting, you'll probably want to keep the plant as close to the light as possible without getting it too hot.
