I did that last year and even starting them late (May I think?) a couple of them were 4 feet tall before winter. they seem to take off once they're about an inch tall. Make sure you have some nice sturdy stakes for them unless you want them falling over all the time. I'm hoping to train mine up in a "tree" shape that I read about online so they're easier to manage.
