Has anyone try floating drosera seeds in water to germinate?

Yes there are a few people on the forum who germinate seeds by water including myself. Search for "water germination" in the search bar

EDIT
Heres an old link of mine where I provide an easy procedure:

Shadowtski also has quite a few phases of water germination experiments for different species as well.

It might be interesting to gently float them on top instead.

Sounds like an experiment coming up.

Good growing,

I found it rather difficult to sink D. binata and anglica seeds due to their shapes and preference to float. For these slightly more oblong seed, I resorted to using a petri dish and letting them float around.

Mold prevention on seeds how do you do it? Once it's on water?

Sterilize your vessel before use.
Shake it up daily.
If anything nasty grows, dump out into coffee filter, rinse well, and replace into vessel with fresh water.
Usually the problem is filamentous algae, not mold, but the cure is the same.

Good growing,
Mike

I agree with Mike here, I encountered algae more often then mold. And when I did find mold growing on the seeds within the tubes, they were most likely dead/unviable. In which case I would try them on media where they also didn't germinate.

Typically I have found successful water germination to occur before algae or mold growth can appear.
