Hey everyone, been a while since I put up some new pics of the terrarium I put together some time ago. Everything seems to be growing well, and outgrowing the terrarium too. I've got plans to put together a slightly larger one- but taking my time with this one as to plan it properly and put it together well.

Anyways, enough talk- here it is:

And for those that missed it before, this is how it was when I first planted it:

Wow, your plants are really thriving. I don't have much experience, but everything I have heard is that VFTs don't do well in terrariums. I guess you just proved me wrong.

What kind of lighting do you provide in there? And how has it been?

They do seem to be doing well, I think its due to a few key factors though. The springtails in the media keep anything fungal down to a minimum, and I actively trim off dead/dying traps/leaves fairly often- about once a week or two. The humidity and temperature are adjusted by the lid, its typically 80% closed and temperatures and humidity stay fairly constant in there. The tank does get some ambient sunlight, no direct sunlight though as that would heat it up really quickly. Most the light is from a single CFL light bulb, 23W, 6500k rating. I add water to the tank every 2 weeks through a small well in the far corner of the tank, and through the gravel at the bottom - it keeps a reservoir and the peat wicks it up as its needed- so media moisture stays the same most of the time (aside from the nep being in its own pot).

I think it is more difficult to maintain VFTs in a terrarium as you have to be a bit more vigilant in what goes on inside. Dormancy is also a big problem for terrarium VFTs. That's why I've kept the Nep in a seperate pot so it can just be pulled out when the tank is put to sleep for the winter. Though, I may remove everything and pot it up for dormancy- haven't quite figured that one out yet.

Hopefully this answers a few questions anyone may have on terrariums!

Thanks again for all the praise!

Like everyone else said, Wow!

So, you said there is gravel at the bottom. What kind is it? And what is the rest of the media? And what are the temps in the terarrium?

Looks like a great setup :D Keep us updated.

ps - congrats on the nep seeds. and how is your TC going?

That's great! How are you going to do dormancy for the terrarium VFTs?
