Will the egg sack live long enough for the babies to hatch?

Will 2 generations die with one misplaced step?

Or will the spiders live to old age never knowing what a precarious upbringing they had?

I give it 4 days. Im betting some of the silk is attached to trigger hairs. Once something lands there its time for a triple meal!

I'm thinking the babies hatch, trigger the trap, mom gets stuck inside, but many of the babies are small enough to make it out the cracks. Would be awesome to see a video of it when it happens lol

That's awesome! I would bet the spiders won't trigger it, but it could easily be triggered by something else causing your trap to have a horrific bonus snack.

Just think about all of the microscopic babies that will explode out of those egg sacks. They will be EVERYWHERE

Why would I do that? Those spiders have just as much right to live as the VFT does. You are suggesting I kill hundreds of spiders for no reason at all. I think that's a pretty dumb thing to do. I believe in letting nature take its course.

One might argue the spiders have more of a right to live than the VFT does given that the VFT doesn't even naturally belong in Texas...unless the spider's also an invasive species.

And one could also argue that it is completely natural for the VFT to be in Texas. They may not grow here naturally but it is human nature to bring plants from one area to another. We have been doing it for as long as we have been around. And you could go even further as to say that all plants are invasive species. This planet did not start out with plants on it so the plants have spread from their original location. Every time a bird eats a seed and flys to an area where that plant doesn't grow and poops out the seed and it grows that plant is invading that location. Animals have been doing this for as long as they have been around. Dig a pond and eventually you will have aquatic plants there that have been brought by animals. It is perfectly natural for animals, humans included, to spread plants where they are not endemic. Just because something is considered invasive doesn't mean it's not a natural occurrence.
And of course it is in people's nature to kill things that make them feel unpleasant or that they do not like. And to kill just for the heck of it. So you can argue that killing the spiders is completely natural as well. Basically, you can argue that every single thing that happens in this universe is natural. But now we are just generalizing a point to absurdity.

Perhaps what I should have written was that it is not in MY nature to kill the spiders for no reason.
