I have a D. capensis plant with two flowerstalks, and both are bifurcated. Now as I think back, almost all of the flowerstalks produced by the plant were bifurcated. This has never occured to any of my other D. capensis.

So, I'm curious, what causes bifurcated flowerstalks? Is this caused by a genetics?

If it is a stable trait, (does this consistently and always has done) then it is more likely to be genetic rather than environmental, so you may have mutation. However, the words in your write up 'almost all of the flower stalks' would tend to prove otherwise. Im not sure whats going on.
