S. flava var. atropurpurea 'Select Genetics'
S. flava var. atropurpurea - Santa Rosa County, Florida
S. flava var. rubricorpora 'Burgundy' - Liberty Co, FL
Arguably the best looking/most shapely clone from this population, the highly sought-after S. flava var. rubricorpora 'Burgundy' Liberty Co, FL has a solid red body, yellow lid, and red blotch on the throat under optimal conditions. The trick to achieving optimal color potential is to keep nutrients in the soil low, keep the plant undisturbed/undivided for at least a full growing season, give the plant blasting full sun, and during the winter dormancy period up until spring, keep all old remaining leaves that are still alive ON the plant, don't chop them off! Any part of the leaf that is brown (typically, the tips of the old leaves) should be chopped off. Once the plant has produced 2-3 brand new traps in the spring, the previous year's old leaves that are still green can be chopped off.
