Plant was shipped potted and it looked great. Not drooping and when I transplanted it it was split in 2 plants. Thanks matt And leah
I love this cultivar! When the trap first sprouts out, it has this red color with a greenish colored strip around the outside that eventually turns into a full and beautiful dark red. The teeth are fairly short which adds that uniqueness to it, compared to my other venus flytraps. This one is one of my favorites and I'm greatful to have it in my collection. Thanks Matt & Leah.
A good flytrap to add to your collection
Last year, I purchased one of these from FTS and they sent two. It's similar to the akai ryu in it's coloration, but it has a uniformly sized and shaped short cilia (teeth).
One big plus about this cultivar (for me anyway) is that it has already propagated itself with offshoots/ plantlets forming off the main rhizome. In another year or so, I'll have some extras to trade with some of my friends who keep CPs (or maybe I'll keep them and let them form a dense cluster). :)
I keep mine in direct sunlight, so the plants develop a nice red coloration.

Unique & Beautiful Cultivar
First time ordering with FTS and nothing but praise! Super fast shipping and my red piranhas arrived in excellent shape. These little guys look absolutely stunning even at a small size. Looking forward to when they get bigger! Matt included a few extra as well! Will do business again!!
no idea how can i make it grow tidily
one of my favorite clones, graceful slim leaf figuration and big nice shaped traps, wonderful coloration, but i have no idea why the traps all facing a variety of directions randomly......
(Edit by Steve, Flytrap Store team-- For a tidier growth habit I would suggest the FTS Crimson Sawtooth, which is much like the Red Piranha including the coloration and the very short "teeth" (marginal spines), but usually produces more leaves and grows in a more compact rosette, with thicker, sturdier leaves even in the Summer.)
This is a great plant, with sweet looking teeth and traps pretty large for a red variety of venus flytrap. a little slow growing compared to some other flytraps, but certainly not the slowest, this plant lived up to all of my expectations and more. a must- have for any collection.
Good, but fragile... in my experience
I really like the form and coloration of this flytraps. As far as cultivars go it is one of my favorites (and the ones here are particularly nice). The only negative I have to report, and this may just be my bad luck, is that this cultivar seems to experience really bad transport shock compared with the others I bought (based on 2 separate orders). Perhaps I got a specimen which had just been deflasked or something but of 3 flytraps I bought in one order, the Red Piranha experienced the most dramatic dieback- all of the others I have bought have maybe lost 2 leaves at most. Currently it has 2 healthy leaves left but more growing out so I am confident that it will be back to its original glory soon. Overall, I can enthusiastically recommend this one, with that caveat.
Red Piranha is one of a kind!
Red Piranha as you can see from the pic above, is a very beautiful VFT with lime green, and yellow in the outside. I bought one Red Piranha, and i received another Red Piranha as a gift, both in perfect conditions as always, and are growing really well and vigoriously since march!
I would reccomend adding a red piranha to your VFT collection, is a pretty neat looking VFT to watch grow!
Thanks Matt and Steve!
One of my favorites.
The pictures don't do this plant justice. I've got a flower pot full of Red Piranha's that I ordered from Flytrapstore. Beautiful red purple plant with pretty green coloration around the trap margins. One of my favorites ! (originally posted on 6/2/11)
I got this plant 3 days after ordering, shipping was very speedy!
This plant is a phenomenal red clone that produces upright growth in the spring and summer. It is one of my personal favorites, and even though I ordered 1 Matt even threw in an extra!
As always, great quality plants from FTS :D (originally posted on 5/30/11)
