Drosera capensis alba is a special type of Cape Sundew. The word alba in the plant world means white, and signifies either a white flower or a plant which has no additional color other than the green of chlorophyll. The tentacles of Drosera capensis bend toward and curl over any insect caught by the very sticky "dew," and then the leaf rolls over the insect over the course of some minutes to several hours, encasing the insect as in a jelly roll or enchilada. Drosera capensis does not need a dormancy unless it is subjected to very little light or cold temperatures, and then will have a semi-dormancy.
