Kayan has an exceptionally long "neck" (petiole) connecting the leaf-base to the trap! Super cool!! In most other ways it is a classic-looking flytrap that grows with excellent vigor and is a notably good hunter.
Kayan is a very unique-looking flytrap that is easy to pick out of a crowd. We've been growing Kayan for quite a few years and have really enjoyed it!
Kayan was selected by grower Guillaume Bily and is named after the subgroup of the Red Karen (Karenni) people, a Tibeto-Burman ethnic minority of Burma (Myanmar) in Northern Thailand. The women of this culture stretch their necks to unnatural lengths by wearing brass neck coils, hence the choice of the name for this Venus flytrap.
