Why do some sources say that ants kill venus flytrap traps?

On a few sources/discussions I have found that people don't like feeding vft's ants. Some say that it can kill the trap. I've fed my small flytraps ants, and they opened a week later, perfectly healthy(the traps). Do people not like using them as food because they are too small for mature plants, or is there something else to it? Also I think that the ants I'm using are carpenter ants, though I'm probably wrong.

It does depend on the size and type of ant. I believe it is the larger, stinky, red ants that cause problems.

I feed my flytraps carpenter ants (the large, black ants that live on old trees) when I can get them. My plants don't have any problem with digesting them.

Some tropical ants can strip whole trees of leaves, that would be my guess. The 8b ants are harmless in my experience.
