Where can I buy beginner Nepenthes seed? I had to pass on an amazing offer because I did't want to kill the seedlings so I need to learn!! (Just curious, what would you guys pay for one seed pod for N. veitchii (Pretty Orange x Candy Dreams)?)

Ok, well he was selling one pod for $500.

Thanks for the link. Looks like they only have lowlanders though

You can email this guy. Trinh

I've gotten seeds a few times from him, he's legit, but he might not have what you're looking for. But that could be a good thing as you can attempt with less expensive seed to try them out to see if you can grow them.
Personally, I didn't have much success, but I don't have a great track record with seeds. I gave some away to others who had success, so the seeds are viable.
He ships from Vietnam though, so it takes a few weeks to arrive.

I think all these links are for the same people lol. They all offer lowlanders and live in Vietnam. I'll email him anyways to see what he has. Thanks!

Highland seed is not available. There are a few sellers who occasionally post poached seed on Facebook but that’s… well… poached. Pure species HL nep seed is very very rarely produced, and when it is, it is usually just distributed to close friends and nurseries who can put it in-vitro. Manny Herrera in Florida on Facebook also produces seed of Nepenthes that he occasionally offers for sale… although they’re usually all lowlanders.

Recently horticulturally produced ventricosa alba seed was offered for sale but those sold out in a matter of hours, iirc. Your best bet would be to watch the Facebook sales groups and private growers on IG/forums.

Growing from seeds can be a fun experience. It can also yield you more plants than you know what to do with. One pod may be ok with ten to twenty viable seeds. If you have several pods, you wind up taking a lot of space and hopefully having lots of seedlings.

(I hope to sell some of my crosses here in the spring, after they have had some time to grow.)

Yeah, I really want to try neps from seed so I don't need to turn down offers because I don't have experience. I'm not really looking for HL species, just whatever can grow in household temps.
