Yeah that guy sent me a crappy plant in a container that was broken and then blocked me from buying from him again. Beware

Eh yeah....I question his "marketing methods" when he sells a VFT under a cultivar name yet says in his listing, "remember these are seed grown"
Ya can't call a Maroon Monster a Maroon Monster unless it's a cloned division/leaf cutting from a Maroon Monster! Period!
Ok that's my E-bay rant for the day....

Thanks for this post. I was about to order from this seller. I ordered seeds in the past and most germinated. I will have to wait and see if any were mislabeled

Which is one reason I won't buy from Ebay. Unless it's a well-known respectable seller...

Most users here probably won't recognize that name but it could be him. I know I was just getting into the hobby when all that drama started going on. It certainly sounds like something he would do though

*Edited to remove false accusation*

I recently won a H. Minor from him. It came in today, and I am very happy with it. It was packaged very well and the plant is in great health.

As usual, I am highly confused. I looked up Mass on this forum, and he has no posts. Yet several people seem to be aware of his activity on here. Apparently he has a reputation, even gives away plants on here, all without a single post. "Ghost member, perhaps?"

OK, I just realized as I hit "Post" that Dykotah won the plant on eBay. But how do people know Mass when Mass has no posts?

It looks good.
Just don't get his venus flytraps.
He has been selling a bunch of fake cultivars.

I have noticed. Maybe he is confused? It would be unlikely given his knowledge on how to grow the plants he is selling. However, there may be a slim chance.

His ceph's look good too. I mean a ceph is a ceph and looks like a ceph lol.
Personally I think what he does is this; a seed grown VFT turns out to be a red leafed/trap plant that he knows the parentage came from a pollination combo of different VFT including Maroon Monster. So he goes by how the seed grown "looks" to label it a cultivar name to draw buyers into bidding.

Is it ethical? Nope but I'm betting uninformed buyers fall for it and think they're buying a "true" Maroon Monster cultivar. Sad, shameful and gives ebay a bad name.

After a bit of easy research I found that the eBay seller fingers001 is located in Virginia. Travis "Mass" Kotke is located in Michigan. I deduce they are not the same.

I prepose that we restrain our propendancy to libel with limited information. OP's original assertion is concerning, but the seller in question has near 100% feedback and evidently successfully completed transactions with members here. Innocent in my esteem, though perhaps misguided or commercially slanted.

Kotke, a.k.a. Mass, earned a reputation for shady dealings on other carnivorous plant and arachnid forums. He even hosed several on Facebook evidently. Either way, definitely not fingers001.

Just a little contribution... i know a couple sellers in AUS who raise plants from seed, find the seedlings most like the parents, and sell them as the cultivar name, with a message in the comments saying "this is seed grown"
it's mainly because it's just so costly to import cultivars into australia... it's a little misleading, but i think it's the best we could get.
