I am looking for seeds or plants of Drosera Regia just name your price! Looking for only a couple not a huge bulk quantity.

The annual NASC auction is coming up very soon. Barring catastrophe, there will be at least one listed there....

For seeds, keep an eye on the ICPS seedbank. There are typically some available there each year - usually mid to late summer iirc.

What dose NASC stand for and where is it ?

North American Sarracenia Conservancy. It is a charity auction to benefit the preservation of endangered Sarracenia habitat. The plants are donated by members and all the money goes to the NASC. The auctions happen over at terraforums.

Cooks carnivorous plants sells D. regia seeds and have them in stock right now. The website is http://www.flytraps.com

Actually, fts also carries D. Regia but they are currently out of stock.

Well Ae9803 I would be interested in acquiring these seeds since the ones I have sowed haven't germinated yet (been about 3+ weeks) and I only have less then 5 left. Any chance you could give me a tip on how to properly germinate these seeds? Do they need a stratification or is that only when they are older seeds?

The D.Regia seeds are in a double pot, the actually seed pot contains 40/60 peat/perlite while the outer pot contains just bottom layer of peat rest is perlite for good even drainage and temperature regulation. It is also covered with a giant plastic bag over the pot to keep humidity. I remove bag daily (twice) to give fresh air into the bag also the pot is sitting in a tray filled with water. Any tips and information about the seeds would be greatly appreciated!

If you didn't acquire your seeds from a reputable source, I suspect that's your problem. When I've planted fresh seed, it has tremendous germination - no need for any special treatment (like stratification). Growing them to maturity is another issue but getting them to sprout ---> easy.

There are many more sellers of garbage, non-viable seed out there than good seed btw...

Well I purchased the seeds from Cooks Carnivores seems to be pretty well known and respected around the community. Is there a reputable source that you could suggest for high germination rate of seeds for D.regia?

Upon inspection of the pot today I noticed that one did indeed germinate! The only one, I tired taking a picture but my camera isn't quite good enough to pick it up yet. It is a tiny little green stem that sprouted out from the seed less then a mm in height right now with the seed just still attached at the top for now.

Do I need fert's for baby regia's or can they just be feed insects? Why are they so difficult to cultivate?

Update 4/04/12 two true leaves have appeared!

As you said, Dean is typically pretty good. However, you may want to buy closer to harvest time (middle of summer to fall - roughly). Mostly I try to purchase from people who actually grow them & stay away from blatant internet scum sellers (there are a number of seed sellers who exist only to harvest money from poor noobs).
