Hi and welcome! :D
By 'Monkey Cup" I assume you are refering to Nepenthes, or tropical pitcher plants? For more care details, visit the care sheet for Neps here: http://www.flytrapcare.com/phpBB3/nepen ... -t843.html
They shouldn't be left in standing water, and many people successfully use a mix or Long fibered sphagnum moss, orchid barch, perlite, and/or live sphagnum moss. Good luck! :)

Welcome!

Well you don't really need standing water, just keep the soil moist. Water them like a normal house plant. Repoting should be done ever one too two years depending on how much the soils broken down.

good choice nepenthes are great plants! you will have a lot of fun with them, just wondering, what species of nepenthes do you have? do you know?
