Don't You Love Birds?

Hi everyone,

My sarracenias and dionaeas are on the roof (I live in a building).

A bird is chopping my sarracenia's traps and digging in the pots. I think it's because of the bugs that are inside the traps.

An idea was to stay on the roof with a shotgun waiting for it, but i prefered to put my plants inside an empty fish tank with the top opened.

Today i've found that the sides that point to the sun have became purple (the whole trap). By the way, they are sarracenias leucophylla.

Why is that? Any ideas? Shall I take them out and find another solution? In Argentina, winter is about to arrive (June 21).

Thanks,

Mariano.-

PS: As always, forgive me about my english.

I had a similar situation before I started growing in a greenhouse. I built a small cage from small boards and chicken wire and set it over the top of my plants to keep the birds and squirrels from eating my plants. It worked well :)

But why is the purple color? Is it because of the glass?

The plants are having the same amount of sunlight, they are at the same location.

I can't say for sure. It could be sun burn? Or it could be because the plant is getting too hot inside the glass.
