When a new leaf starts to grow, is the pitcher at the end supposed to be brown? I think it may be dead because it was shipped all the way from California (and I live in Pennsylvania....quite a bit away from California) and it may have been damaged from the shipping. Any help would be appreciated!! :D

The pitchers will turen black if they are dead. new unopened pitchers are usually brown with a little bit of fuzz on them. even if it is dead, a new leaf will open with a brand new pitcher on the end in a few months.
Hope this helps, Pat.
