Wellspring Gardens Review

Hey guys! Recently I ordered some plants from Wellspring Gardens and I figured I'd post a quick review of the experience.

To start, this is the first time I've ever ordered any live plants online, so this is just my opinion. I ordered the following:

Nepenthes alata (probably a 'ventrata')
Nepenthes 'Gentle'
Sarracenia 'Scarlet Belle'
Pinguicula primuliflora

They also throw in a free plant with your order, so I got a 'black beauty' elephant ear.

Shipping was flat rate $9.99, so I paid $28 for everything.

I placed the order on a Friday night, it shipped the following Tuesday, and I received it on Thursday, despite the much larger time frames they quote you.

The box was a bit smashed when I got it, but everything inside was okay. All of the plants were inside paper bags with skewers through the pots. Some had moist paper towels on top of the soil to keep it damp, and then tape over the top to keep the soil in.

Both nepenthes had small pitchers on them, and the ping had two small plants growing under the leaves. The nepenthes and sarracenia were small, but seemed very healthy. The sarracenia had a couple brown pitchers that I cut off later, but plenty of healthy ones too.

Overall, I am pleased with my experience. The plants were small, but due to limited space I actually wanted them that way. The price couldn't be beat, and I received them very quickly. They seem to be healthy, though I know it will take some time for them to adjust and start growing again. My only concern was the elephant ear, which had some bugs on it. I promptly put it outside in its packaging overnight and through the next day, and when I checked the next evening, they seemed to be gone. I'm not too concerned with that one since it was free.

I would definitely buy from them again, but keep in mind I'm also not an experienced buyer or grower of carnivorous plants, so this is only my take on it.

Pictures will follow, not the best quality but you'll get the gist, and a quarter for reference.

If you have any additional questions or if there's anything I missed, feel free to leave a reply!

Joy

Glad you wrote a review for them. I was considering buying a few clematis vines from them until I saw the negative e-bay ratings.
What you received looks great considering they were packed up and shipped (and the box looks like it was a bit smooshed)
Thanks for the pics and review!

They were bigger than I expected for the price, and they fit perfectly on my windowsill:)

I've gotten quite a few plants from them over the years. They're always small but grow very vigorously once settled. Plus, the price is really hard to beat.
