Hi all,

Just wondering if it is ok to substitute Fluorescent lamp with LED lights? LED is more energy saving and pretty bright as well.

Anyone tried this method?

Thanks

LEDs can certainly be used instead of fluorescent lighting. There are various discussions about them across the forums and Steve started up a topic regarding them here that may contain some awesome info for you:

I use a LED with one of my cephs with no problem. Only downside to LEDs is light penetration. You have to have plants very close to the LEDs.

You can keep LED's just has high as any grow light it all depends on the watt your putting out

In fact i have read that LED's grow lights around the 300watt range can go to 3ft-6ft from your plants and cover 10sq foot

I have the LED grow panel 45, i didn't have flouresent lights before, but led lights are starting to turn my plants red :D. The cost of one individual light is some 140, but definitely buy the 45 led panels. :)
