Identify this moss!

it's probably peat/sphagnum, but not entirely certain...

can anyone identify this green stuff on top of the soil? it's densely packed and feels a lot like turf.

Nope that’s not sphagnum. Star moss/nose hair moss.

oooh. thanks. if i pinched off some and sprinkled it onto another pot, will it propagate itself?? lol

Other wild moss type will harden the media on top if you wil not trim it sometimes.

the flytrapstore's own "growing medium vft soil" grows very similar looking moss.

this picture was taken a year (maybe 2 years) after the store's soil turned green. now it's autumn brown ish and has seeds floating above it everywhere.

the original pic has long fibers. the store's moss are short asterisks. still had the same great fluffy feel though.

all i did with the soil was drench it in water. sprinkle vft seeds and left it under a lightbulb.
