I got my first ever Orchid today.
I love these plants but to be honest I don't know a lot about them.
I have been taking care of an Orchid I bought for my mom for a year now and it's been doing great, went through the winter well and
now it's in full bloom!
Now I figured it's about time I have one too :)

I really have no idea what kind it is, I just thought it was beautiful!
so if anyone can ID it and maybe tell me a little about it I would be very grateful.
Thanks

Congrats on the orchid. Looks nice. Was walking through Lowes just the other day and they had some that were white and blue (They must have been dyed... I dont think they come in that color naturally)

My side question is this: Orchids aren't CPs, so why are they on these forums, as well as being sold by most websites that cater exclusively to CPs?

mmmm cause they're pretty and we like them...
so we have a sub-forum that's called "Non-carnivorous Plants ‹ Orchids" which is not a CP forum.
about the colors, I really don't know enough about Orchids to tell you if they're blue Orchid flowers. we'll have to wait for the big guys to answer that one :D
Have a good one

That's a very nice Dendrobium orchid, although I have no idea which hybrid. Dendrobiums, depending on where and how they were grown before purchase, sometimes tend to develop a black-spot fungus on the leaves. If that happens, just use an antifungal spray such as for roses, before the black-spot kills too many leaves. This may or may not be a problem with your plant, but Dendrobium black-spot fungus can become pretty severe if not treated.

Beautiful flowers! :)

Thanks a bunch Mr.Steve_D for some very useful info, now I'll know what it is, and if it happens I'll be able to take care of it a lot faster :)
Have a good one
