Couldn't wait until spring... Received this beautiful plant on Friday. I will be using this thread to track it's growth later in the year. Thanks again FTS!

Low Giant is honestly probably my favorite VFT. I love how it hugs the ground all year plus the traps can get massive! I had one that was 2" size traps.

I love the low-growing varieties the most, with growth habit and color being more important to me than size alone. Size is a plus too though, and I can hardly wait to see how big it gets come spring!

Some of the more colorful traps have died back and been removed, but it looks like it is really starting to wake up now with more to come. It has even caught a few spiders so far!

So, the "mystery hoppers" from last year are at it again All of my plants are taking the usual damage with leaves being eaten slowly. Though they aren't very large yet, they are in greater numbers than last year. I need a good systemic pesticide as the spider mite hoard will soon follow. Still have no clue what they are... Low Giant has a large spider, and a fly in its traps currently.

If it would stop catching stuff maybe the traps would color up!

Shouldn't we be starting to lose the spring growth now in preparation for the fall growth to come in? As I've read we get two growth spurts a year, spring and fall.

Yeah, looks like it got a bit of heat stress, but once the weather cools down a bit, it should perk up

Around here the fall growth starts in September. The spring growth spurt, for me, seems to happen kind of late in early to mid-June when everyone else in other parts of the country have already gone through it in April or May. I noticed that a second big spurt happens in August. So yeah, I guess there are at least two big growth spurts, at least for the conditions I'm growing in.

Jumps in growth can happen anytime throughout the season and different cultivars may go through them a little earlier or later. Fall is my favorite time of the year for CPs. Get ready for an awesome show, especially with the Sarrs!

Cool! It's always nice to have a heads up on when to expect things to happen, or at least a ball park idea of when they should happen. You put yours outside after spring hits? I know you said they spend winter in an enclosed porch.

I'm super excited about fall, since this will be my first fall with most of my plants.

For the coldest part of winter (December, January, February) they are in a garage which stays just above freezing most of the time with the occasional drop below. For early spring and late fall they are in an enclosed porch, and from late spring to early fall (June through October) they are outside.
