So I've decided I'm going to post a picture of at least one of every kind of Pinguicula I own, even ones that are pretty ugly and not doing so well. I'm hoping that by doing this, when I inevitably take pictures of Pings that have started looking good again, I can see how much they have progressed/recovered. It's gonna be full of pictures, and a lot of the pictures may not be super-high-quality (I have shaky hands and fluorescent lighting is often weird through the iPhone camera), but to make up for that, I'll occasionally post my thoughts about some of the plants pictured. I hope that some find this thread enjoyable or useful.

Every photo in these first couple of posts was taken today (26th of April). You can see some of my thoughts in the file comments.

More pics from today, almost done with getting a photo of everything uploaded.

I had some calderoniae for awhile but I couldn't get them to leave dormancy. They were sort of half way out when I got them and seemed to get stuck until they died. Could you explain how you are growing yours?

Aaaand some more, these are the last of the pics from today. With that all done, I've covered at least one of every different unique clone of Pinguicula I have (unless some are hiding that I forgot about). From here on out, it will be new photos of everything pictured in my first three posts.

For me the key is to keep them wet. They will stay dormant 90% of the time, but they don't seem to care about being wet while dormant, and I've lost my best calderoniae to not realizing it was waking up and letting it dry out. I've heard from Oliver Gluch that he has lost flowers from waking plants when they did not get water as soon as they started waking, so it seems to be better to err on the wet side.

P. megaspilaea is from Turkey. Regarding the dertosensis, I haven’t found calcareous species to grow differently in acidic media. Last year the dertosensis was in a calcareous media and it is growing just the same as it was last year.

The lack of difference in growth between calcareous and acid media for calcareous Pings is just based on my own cultivation experience. For example I have grown P. vallisneriifolia and longifolia in acidic media and have not found them to grow abnormally (I originally put a few pieces of crushed coral and clay granules on the top of media but likely not enough to neutralize the peat in the mix). Almost all of my temperate Pinguicula share water trays with Pinguicula growing in live sphagnum which would lower the pH of their water a little as well.

I would think that acid-growing Pings would not like growing in clay media, but I have not found the calcareous-growing Pings to mind growing in other mixes.
