Hi,
I would like to know can I germinate Cape sundew and Spathulata seeds directly in water?,
If yes can any one tell me what will be the correct procedure from putting it into water to transferring it on moss.
Thanks

I sow Dosera/Sundew/Sar seeds with distilled water and it works quite well. Use baby food jars; add 1/2 inch of distilled water; put about 10 seeds per jar and cover with clear plastic wrap; put under fluorescent light; wait for 1-3 weeks; seeds will germinate strong and fast; transfer them to regular media. Make sure that you get fresh seeds. Old seeds don't work well. You may use GA3 if seeds are old. :)

Yes, you can put jars in sunlight. Make sure not direct sunlight and not too hot to cook seeds. I don't think seeds need too much light to germinate.

hi,
I did the way you told me but would like to know most of the seeds have sunk down so will they still germinate or is it important for seeds
to keep floating to germinate,

also i dont know how a dust foam has entered and is also sitting at the bottom of the jar and it happened just after i was placing jar in sun.
thanks

Some people said that good seeds sunk down. I don't know but all of my seeds flow on the surface of water. I don't see any dust foam in the bottom of my jars for several weeks. You may wash your seeds before put them in jars. Matt and Steve work with a lot of seeds for a long time and they may provide you more information.

Seeds will germinate in water better if submerged. But either way it should work.
