How many times can a single trap eat?

In one of my bigger dcxl traps, I removed the spider carcass that was inside and replaced it with a small worm which triggered the trap to close again which means the trap can eat at least twice. How many times can a trap eat? Right now, I'm finding that once a plant has enough energy, throwing more food in is just like a log onto a strong burning fire.

If this trap ends up opening again, I might feed it a 3rd time. It's the one on the bottom right, not the one just opening up.

I stuck in 7 pill bugs into the trap next to it on the bottom left because it could still close all the way with that many of them. It will be interesting to see how big the 2 twin traps will turn out so I want to make sure there's enough fuel for both of them. I know the top left trap is almost done digesting so 2 traps fed won't be too big of a stressor.

The little plant on the bottom has had 3 traps for the longest time, but still none of them will open up.

In my plants the traps can usually eat 2 or 3 times depending on what they had in them. I've head them eat once and die or open and close 3+ times. Probably depends on the plant's energy/health. Currently on my biggest plant, I gave it a caterpillar/centipede thing and now there is this black oozing ick around the the teeth. I'm not sure what that thing did but idk how the leaf will respond to that. Its still green and healthy so I shall see.

But aside from that tangent, I've always been told that 1 bug a week was a good feeding plan if one decides that they want to "feed" their plant. As long as your plant stays healthy it should be ok :)

This particular plant is far ahead of the other 4 plants, and even though the 4 traps showing still appear relatively the same size, I think it is in for a size up or flowering because I've never seen 2 traps forming simultaneously, so it's definitely healthy.

I guess, I'll just keep feeding them until they no longer open back up eh. One thing I've noticed is that venus fly traps seem to only focus on the growth of a single leaf at a time because I notice a boost of growth in the next trap every time one of them finishes growing. Currently this plant is directing its energy mostly into the opening of the trap on the bottom right.

I also like to keep 1 trap open at all times so the plant won't be over-whelmed and focus all its energy into digestion. It's like when you eat too much and can't really move eh.

I think that because its early in the growing season and most VFTs are out of dormancy, each trap should be a little bigger than the previous one. I like to feed a fly here and there if I come across one, but I think they do a fine job on their own collecting bugs. I don't know what your expectations with the DCXL are, but I don't think feeding every trap that is open will make it any bigger than one collecting its own bugs. Just my 2 cents....

Kinda sorta yes :) Flytraps are slow growing and don't seem to grow too many traps together at once. My biggest plant has two growing right now, and most of my smaller plants have between 1-3 leaves coming up at a time. I personally recommend not having more than one trap fed at a time so as not to use up more energy than is gained from the food. But hey, if your plant is happy :)

Oh in case your plant does decide to flower, the growth will slow to a near stop when it does. The flower can be propagated when its about 2 inches.

It looks like this plant can definitely handle 3 traps digesting at once as long as the food can fit in the traps. One has a spider, another has 7 pill bugs, and the other has a worm which is opening back up for the second time.

The growth of the 2 new traps is pretty clear each day. The one that just opened up is close to an inch in length so these 2 could exceed the 1 inch mark. The one on the left has grown slightly faster recently as 2 more new traps are on the horizon too. In a few more days, we could have 6 open traps.
