why can a VFT can get a fly by moving so slow?

is it because it is so slow the fly doesn't notice?

Yeah, I've seen them slowly close on insects and the insect doesn't flinch. I'm not entirely certain why, but it might be because plants are normally inanimate and the fly's instinct tells it that the wind is blowing the leaves or something. Just a guess. I'm sure someone else can come up with a better guess.
