I have a question...How do I feed a sarracenia? I have just thrown a fly in it :-S

Does this plant move or something?

No it will not move (unless it is windy or you move it ) Was the fly alive? Its not normally a good idea to feed any Cp dead food.

They work by getting their pray "drunk" on the nectar so they fall in the plant and there the bacteria get to work!

To feed a Sarracenia well that depends if you can find bug's for it.. usually bug's are attracted to the plant an it will catch it's own food. but it doesn't than you could do that just don't over feed it than you will get brown spots on the pitcher's but it's perfectly normal.. if you have any questions about Sarracenia just ask me..

Leave the Sarrs outside and it will feed on it's own. I tried that with my Dana' Delight and I can't believe the amount of bugs it caught. Pitcher is almost half full.

Sarras wil eat virtually any insect that can fit in its pitcher. Mine catch wasps bees, ants, cockroaches, beetles and heaps of other kinds. They will catch their own prey if grow out side. To feed them just drop the insects(live are better that dead) into the pitcher opening.
Ps. all speies of sarracinea accept for S.purpurae secret their own digestive enzymes.

What do S.purpurae do?

There the same pitcher plant but the only difference is that they capture rain water...

As allen said, S.purpurae collect rainwater in their pitchers and then bacteria breakdown the preythe plant then absorbs the broken down nutrients. Darlingtonia and Heliamphora do the same thing.
