It looks good. I like the specified time-frames along with non giveaway post counts. I also like the heads up for donors, getting to know early about anything special first.

Great job, and thank you guys for taking the time to organize this!

Should the threads be posted in the seed bank forum? Just wanted clarification? That way everyone is on the same page and it's easy to find. Just a suggestion :D
And is that the place where the inventory of current seeds will be posted as a sticky? So it stays at the top of the forum?

Post your reply in the SEEDBANK forum. When I reply to your thread, I'll add the number to the post title.

I apologize for using you as an example but I'm going to do it again.
For example, you make the following post in the SEEDBANK forum: Hollyhock wants Drosera capensis "Typical"
I see this, PM you my address and an order number, 0001. Then I retitle your post,(0001 Hollyhock wants Drosera capensis "Typical"). I'll post a reply, something like "Order received."
By replying back and forth to this original post, we can both keep track of what's happening.

I made the rules posting and the inventory posting both sticky posts. They will always be at top of the forum listing.

Does that sound clear and make any sense?

Good growing,
Mike

Awsome!!!! This is SUPER great!

How would one date harvested seeds?

I can't remember the exact date I harvest. Sometimes seed pods are ready days apart from each other and I just put them all into the same zip top bag. I do separate them month to month.

If I were to donate seeds(and I VERY LIKELY WILL), would just the month and year harvested be okay?

Month and year good. Even just the year will be adequate. The thought is that seed should be distributed on a First In, First Out basis. If this experiment lasts and I hope it does, I want to make sure that the seed we're sending out isn't something that was sitting in the back of the SeedBank for 17 years.

Mike

This is great.if in the future you get a seed bank manager in the uk i would definitely donate seeds.also uk sb manager could share extra stock with usa sb manager and like wise thus giving more diversity

I was wondering about this, but I don't think they really store that well. It would be sort of like donating a leaf pulling.

Gemmae have a short shelf life of viability.

I'd suggest a giveaway if you'd like to share with the community. I'd sign up for most gemmae giveaways.

Thanks for thinking about donating to the seedbank though!

Then what about stuff like nep, ceph, and heli seeds? Those have a very low shelf life

Those seeds will be taken immediately, I predict.

If they don't go quickly, I can drop them a level so newer members will be able to ask for them. I don't want any seeds to die from old age.

This would be done on a case by case basis.

Sound reasonable?

You can run a direct giveaway with those seeds also. This would eliminate the days lost in transit traveling to the seedbank. It would also let you set the criteria for who gets the seeds. The seedbank is not the be-all and end-all for seed distribution here. It's just an experiment we're trying.

What is the viable lifespan on those genera by the way?

Good growing,
Mike

A neps maximum lifespan is 2 months, or so I've read. I've germinated month old nep seeds, but they take a while. I think Cephs May last a little longer, but I've heard heli seeds don't last that long at all. Then there's utric humboltii, it's seeds last 48 hours.

Well, maybe growers can continue to do their own giveaways with these guys then. That would save some time.

That's one of the things that I really like about this site, so many growers willing to share for no cost. The pay it forward principle seems to be strong here.

Mike
