Question #6
On 1/1/1892 this became the gateway for immigrants into the United States replacing Castle Garden Immigration Depot in lower Manhattan which had processed over 8 million immigrants into the country. It operated in this role for more than 50 years closing in 1954 having processed more than 12 million immigrants into the United States. Did You Know over 100 million Americans - one third of the population - can trace their ancestry to the immigrants who first arrived in America at this famous location. Name it?
