Baby flytraps 50 cents each! - OFFER CLOSED

I'm in the process of repotting some tissue culture pots and I have a huge number of baby flytraps that I'm willing to sell for 50 cents each. They are from the 2008 FlytrapRanch seed mix and many of them have wonderful characteristics including interesting cilia, large traps and good coloration. They are the equivalent of 2 to 3 year old plants from seed. The minimum order is 20 plants ($10). You can order as many as you'd like. Plants will be shipped bare root. I'm not sure how many I actually have, but I'm guessing it's somewhere around 500 plants. but it could be more. I'll accept payment for the first 200 plants and go from there. I'll post back to this thread when the deal is closed.

Please PayPal payment along with $5 for shipping to sales@flytrapcare.com. If you don't use PayPal, I can accept payment via credit or debit cards if you send your full name, credit card number and expiration date to me in an email at sales@flytrapcare.com (that takes a lot of trust...I know :))

When paying via PayPal, please be sure to include your full mailing address, what the payment is for and how many of the babies you want.

This offer will only be good for a couple of days at most, so if you think you might want some baby flytraps at an excellent price, jump on them!

ADDITIONAL IMPORTANT INFORMATION: One thing I need to clarify here is that these plants have never seen a ray of sunlight. They've been growing exclusively under fluorescent lighting, so if you plan on growing them outside in sunlight, be sure to slowly acclimate them to it or they could burn to death.

Doh! I was a day too early with my order...

Will they ship well? I am a little concerned about them being in a box for 5 days while they travel across the country.

Oh, the plant I sent you is much, much larger than any of these babies. It will take them a year or 2 before they reach the size of the one I sent you a day ago.

Steve and I ship plants like this all the time. We rarely have any issues. In fact, I've sent hundreds (maybe thousands of plants if you include the ones I send to Steve) and I've only had one problem. And I'm not convinced that it didn't happen after the package was received. It looked like the person on the receiving end had left the package in direct sunlight so that it cooked the plant inside the box.

That's true. I didn't know when I bought my baby VFTs last time. I put them in full sunlight and they all got burnt.

How do you acclimate them to sunlight? l only know how to acclimate them from terrariums. D:

It would be essentially the same to acclimate them from a terrarium. Basically I move them into my greenhouse where there isn't much UV light that makes it through the panels. If I don't have room in my greenhouse, I move them to full shade for a week or use a 60% shade cloth and then slowly introduce them to sunlight over the course of a month or so.

Sometimes, if I don't need them to start growing right away, I'll just throw them out into direct sunlight and let them burn. Usually all of the leaves die back, but new growth quickly emerges from the rhizome.

They'll be long gone in a week. There are only about 60 left now (the response to this sale has far surpassed my expectations) and what doesn't sell by tomorrow (which will likely be none) I'm just going to pot up myself.

Also, I have been getting a lot of questions about whether or not these flytraps are or are not "typical" Venus fly traps. These plants are raised from seed. They are from Steve's 2008 seed mix from the FlytrapRanch which I put into tissue culture in March 2009. They have grown rapidly and multiplied many times over, producing thousands of plants, some of which have sold already and many of which are being repotted to be sold in the future. They are not named clones, but almost all of them are superior to average Venus fly traps in trap size, vigor and trap coloration.

Any plant raised from seed is considered a "typical" Venus fly trap unless someone gives it a name. However, some of these babies appear to me to be superior to even most named clones.
