Hi Everyone,

I am new to this forum and have started my first VFT plant on 30 Apr 2019. The good news is that the plant is growing, but I don't see any traps growing. I have attached a picture which I took this morning. Maybe I should wait longer for the traps to grow..

Thank you.

Sam (Singapore)

Hi Sam,

Greetings from a fellow Singaporean (well, partially lah haha). I'm new to the forum too and have just bought my first vft a few days ago too.

Do u know the species of your vft? I've never really seen leaves like that before on a vft. Though i am also a novice myself.

The subject should be "FlyTraps Without Traps"..

I ordered these from Lazada:
https://www.lazada.sg/-i284312924-s4542 ... =true&mp=1

I guess I need to demand for a refund then... sigh..

Sam i wouldn't really trust Lazada to sell the best in terms of plants.. i think something similar happened to one of my family members. They purchased a bonsai but came to be the wrong species or something like that. Died within a week.

I'd say lazada is ok for items, but specialist things like plants, pet stuff, etc. might be best to buy in-person or from a more trusted online source?

Ok, I’ll say it. That’s not a flytrap! Whoever sold you it is scamming you

I'm sorry dear. Check out the seed bank here. They're free seeds once a month. They're from users on here, so you know they're vfts. And they definitely have typical vfts. I'm sorry you got scammed. Please, please, please leave a review and report the buyer.

Are the seeds here only deliverable within the US? I can probably read on the relevant threads but might be lazy and ask here in case anyone knows off the top of their head.

yeah unfortunately fake seeds, even in their infancy stages of growth they still look like flytraps just very...tiny ones!

they will get a leaf that extends one way then the other after germination then will begin producing teensy carnivorous leaves like such:

Image

the seeds for VFT will be teardropped shame, black and shiney like such (I enjoy taking macro shots!)
Image

where are you located geographically?

Very nice pics you have and I can be certain that I am scammed.. :-(
I will just keep it and see what it turns out to be...

Any idea where I can buy these seeds in Singapore? I can buy a grown VFT, but I thought I wanna try growing from seeds.

Thanks.

regards,
Sam

a couple links for places to potentially talk to in/around Singapore:

https://www.facebook.com/Singapore-carn ... 340384703/ looks to be a hobbyist that sells plants there and at different events

https://www.atillyaday.com/

far-east-flora-singapore-cp-plants-t18811.html this thread mentions a far east flora (their website does not show carnivorous plants for delivery but their retail stores may carry some options)

I can vouch for none of these places personally but some options to check out! best of luck!

Anything that grows that fast from seed in a month is NEVER a VFT. You need to have the patience of Job to grow VFT's from seed.
