So I have a pesky robin that has uprooted several of my plants. Any suggestion to keep them away? I would like to refrain from chicken wire. I have tried streamers and a fake owl. The darn things just hops right by them. If I wasn’t such an animal lover, I would just shoot the darn thing.

Short of chickenwire, or a milk crate, I don't know of any other way.

I wonder if bird repellent would be bad for carnivorous plants if it is all natural.

Has anyone tried a homemade repellent like garlic oil spray? Would that be harmful to CPs?

Omelets made from blue eggs work if consistently applied over time.

Seriously, robins are the worst. Just rats with wings. They do millions of dollars of damage to the small fruit industry, as well as back yard gardeners. They are vicious and relentless. If it were legal to kill them, I would devote some serious time to the practice. Alas that is not legal.

Get a cat, better yet more than one cat for the outdoors.

At home we would hang unused CD's from string and dangle them from trees nearby plants you'd want to protect. The reflection and sparkly discs will either deter or distract the birds.

But this robin sounds smarter than that, so i have doubts this will work :/

Weird, I have a ton of Robin's and they have never bothered my plants.

I’m going to try sticking plastic forks in the pots.

Shish kabob sticks inserted in the pots kept the robin away today. Hopefully that works. Tomorrow I’m going to put reflective tape on plant labels in my pots. I don’t appreciate the shish kabob look.

I have some plants that are almost irreplaceable.

I don't take chances with birds, squirrels, or critters of any kind.

Here's my outdoor grow setup with front screening pulled aside.

Bugs have no problem entering but very few exit.

Some orchards use propane cannons that fire off a loud blast every few minutes to scare off birds and other wildlife. If the OP doesn't live in a residential area it may be a worthwhile investment.

The car dealer we get our car serviced at plays predator bird squawks over loud speakers in the parking lot to scare away the "poopers".

May be a bit more practical than propane cannons, IMHO.

Greetings, I'm new to the hobby and new to the forum..I went out to check on my little VFT collection and found a plant pulled from its pot.. I wasn't really sure what to make of it until a few hours later when I came out to find traps missing on another plant... being new to the Hobby and not having a clue what to do I went to Google hoping to find some information on what was attacking my plants...Thankyou to everyone who shared their experiences and knowledge, this forum is a blessing thanks to you all I was able to diagnose that it was in fact a bird and have taken all the necessary precautions to protect my little collection
I didn't know this threat existed and appreciate the help
