The single new growth is still emerging VERY slowly, while the rest of the plant is turning a little yellow.

A flower stalk is also forming, and I'm going to cut if off. I'll make sure this plant grows good before messing around with trying to get seeds from it.

Hopefully I'll have pics I'm thinking in about two weeks. I hope it doesn't take longer than this for a single trap to finish forming.

very cool keep us posted I vote for the name "butt cheeks" if it is a staple variant.

Any day now these traps should unfold!
They are shorter now, but at least the petiole still seems to be curling into a "taco" shape. I'm thinking it may still be stable variant since I don't think whatever is causing the "taco" rolled petiole is independent from the disfigured traps.

Here's some pics:

Can't wait to see how those traps turn out. It's flytrap wait 2014!

Not open, but they're getting a bit distorted. I'm also not sure why one leaf seemed to stop growing early while the younger leaf is growing longer.

I'm starting to consider naming it. I'm not sure if naming it after someone would be appropriate anymore. I also think it would be very disappointing not to include a butt reference lol. I dunno if "ass traps" is satisfactory... Maybe I wanna be a bit more elaborate like "Beavis and Butt-trap".

Oh, and there is a growth point to the right side and to the left side of these two leaves. I think a division is on the way.

Ok. I will post pics soon.

Its traps form a bit slow, but the deformation trait is still stable so I'm pretty confident saying its a new variety.

Only thing is the new growth didn't 'straiten out' It's still hunched over, but the traps still are going towards the butt cheek look with curly teeth. There also are now two small divisions growing pretty rapidly off the main rhizome too. The main rhizome's brand-new growth (not in the pic) again has the hunched look like the trap does in the pics i posted earlier. I'm not sure if the traps will eventually grow out of it, of if the summer growth looks more like when I first got it.

Here's pics- hope future leaves straiten out somehow, they're really hunching over. Maybe it's the light angle? I turned them 180 in regards to the growlight.

Ahhh toilet humor, how you entertain me, and are universally funny. :P

I kinda like "butt cheeks" or "ass traps," though the latter sounds a bit disturbing too. I also now have a great mental image of the butt scene from Ace Ventura: "Excuse me! I'd like to ASS you a few questions!!" Bwahaha!

Doctor! You gotta help! I think something's wrong with my butt!

What?

There's a huge crack in it!

Okay, I'm done now. :P

UPDATE!
The two largest traps in the pic dont seem to be "developing" anymore so I tried to trigger the hairs and see if the traps shut. It didn't work... so I guess this 'cultivar' has possibly non-functional traps. I will keep you updated on the next round of growth.

also, I plan to foliar fertilize this guy to get it to grow more. Maybe just water with orchid fert first.

OH! I almost forgot to mention that the trigger hairs are also "curly" like the teeth.

Two divisions coming up! they have minor scaling too! I wonder if this will be a trait in the summer leaves?
