I’ve had some trouble lately getting adequate temperature drops for my highland nepenthes. The only viable option for me was to explore the possibility of a freezer. Over the past several months, I’ve don’t extensive research and finally pulled the trigger the other week and just purchased a brand new 7.5 cubic foot freezer... it got here Monday and I couldn’t be happier!

It’s really making the entire process of providing temperature drops effortless. I have it attached to a day/night temperature controller to regulate night temps to between 52-57 degrees (5% differential) and it kicks on during the day if temperatures exceed 80! I also have a marshydro light hanging above the freezer on a timer that I’m contemplating adjusting to automatically match the natural hours of sunlight.

Eventually I’d love to expand this grow environment to include an automatic misting system and also a drainage system that either funnels the water out of the garage or recycles it and puts it back into the chamber after being filtered (maybe by a fish tank protein skimmer). Awesome man! As far as watering suggestions, have you considered an ebb and flow setup? When I get around to building my new tank I'll be adapting a mini fridge for temps and then ebb and flow for watering with a cool air humidifier. I thought about misting, but the thought of increased chances of rot are making me lean towards the ebb and flow. I would rather be safe in case a fan fails and you don't realize it.

I’ve never experienced rot, even with Cephs, which are notorious for it (and mine often sits in water). It could be the great white I give my plants. It helps promote a healthy foot environment and prevents rot.

Yeah I’d have to drop the temperatures to the low 40s though. I don’t think 50s would suffice

Yeah, I know I use it on my helis. I just know I personally would lean on the safe side, especially with some of those high dollar rare plants of yours

I want to ensure full drainage, but had it mist like 2x a day
