I don't quite know what plant you talking about, but if you want a good indoor plant and have a window that gets some direct sun for a little bit, then try Christmas cactus. There more of a succulent, but they're really easy to care for and have beautiful flowers in the winter.

Answer is -- it depends:
What kind of light will said plants receive?
How arid is your home?
What are the temps like from season to season in your home?

Jades are full sun plants and will not remain compact indoors unless receiving LOTS of light. Most cacti and succulents are not good houseplant candidates. Their light requirements are simply too high to easily be met indoors for most folks In contrast, Schlumbergera (Christmas/Thanksgiving cacti -- which are true cacti, btw) and Haworthia are often able to fair well in a home precisely because they don't want as much intense sun as most cacti/succs.

African violets and orchids can do very well in a home. Pinguicula, utrics, and some neps (should you wish to stay with cps) can be grown as houseplants without the need for a terr.

But no matter how you slice it, you should base you choices on what conditions you can provide.

I would say Christmas cactus for sure. They can adapt to different light levels.

Also try ming fern(also known as asparagus fern). You can find them at stores in the fairy garden section. They do well in moderate light.

Peace lily is another option. Moderate light.

I have done some bonzai work with dragon fruit cuttings as well.

Norfolk island pine works well with moderate light.

Pothos is good too for a hanging basket near a window. Just be careful with these. Some from garden centers are covered in mealy bugs that will spread to the rest of your collection.

Sundews are good carnivores for indoor growing as well.

For Christmas cacti there are articles about watering schedule and light and temperature that all happen to affect the number of blooms as well as bloom intensity. Pretty cool to read and I have tried it in the past. Seems to be right on the money and you get fantastic blooms.
