very awesome looking plant like its fuzziness on the back of the leaves I look forward to seeing this continue to grow up!

I fed him his first bug yesterday, a gnat. The whole leaf rolled up around it. It's the leaf on the right side in the middle.

Love this plant.

My magnifica look really sad lol. They came with black growth points, but they seem to be holding on for now.

Yours look like they'll pull through and hopefully next year you'll have big ol bushes of them!

It's been over two months since my last update.
Since then, the plant has crashed and burned.

The growing point died for no reason I could see.
My guess is that the roots were too wet.
I will be transplanting it soon into a better draining medium.

But two new growth points have appeared, so there is still hope.
The plant itself is still alive.

The leaf cutting now has two small plantlets growing.

I'm still on the learning curve, but I haven't killed it yet.
So overall, I'm satisfied.

Good job documenting everything, and don't get too hung up on the growth point dying. It might be a result of the soil (I and many others are using a very rocky/sandy mixture kept drier than usual), but it could also be stress. I lost a large plant from the very beginning, and most of the people I talked to had at least some of the growth points die. The basals that they form seem to be quite vigorous though so it doesn't appear to be a huge problem if the main point goes.

Another Update:

I transplanted my Drosera magnifica today.

The old media was 1:1 peat/perlite, I think.
The old pot was a Red 20 oz Solo plastic cup.

The new mix is 87.5 % Perlite and 12.5% peatmoss. (7:1)
The new pot is 5 inches square by 7 inches deep.
It will be domed for at least two weeks to allow acclimation.
I will be top watering it daily.

The new media is very airy, open, and quick draining.
This mix would be good for regia, Drosophyllum, and many Pings, I think.

Looks like you are going to succeed very well with this plant and I hope you can get bountiful growth to help this amazing species!

I just ordered a Drosera magnifica myself and this information will hopefully help me keep it alive and hopefully get some plantlets from it! Thank you so much!

I’ve now just repotted my 4 regia seedlings (yesterday) in the same media about 6:1 perlite, peat moss mix and will amp the perlite a bit more for the magnifica.

My regias are already looking more dewy today and show no signs of shock but already look happier.

I highly recommend your media ratio to anyone else who want these plants to thrive!

Here is an update on my Drosera magnifica.
It has been about two weeks since transplanting into a well draining ( 1:7 Peatmoss:Perlite ) medium.
The plant is looking very happy with lots of new growth.

Thanks for sharing, often learning what NOT to do is as important as what to do. Glad it's bouncing back nicely!
