New leaves keep on turning black

My D. binata seems to be coming out of dormancy now that it's warming up and winter is basically over here. However the new leaves that sprout up keep turning black and dying after they reach a certain size. I'm currently keeping it in partial sun/shade an am using distilled water. Not sure what is going on, but I hope someone can help out. Thanks.

Are new ones sprouting faster than they die off.
Most of my binata leaves are short lived before turning black but are soon to be replaced by new growth.
I also have mine in deep pots as the root system is quite large

The leaves haven't even fully sprouted. They get a few centimeters above the soil (peat moss) and then they turn black.

could be root rot or maybe sunburn
need a pic, and is the plant in the sun or indoors.

Was it repotted at the beginning of the season?
