if the sundew and pitcher plant catches too much bugs or over eat, will they get sick like the venus flytrap?

I would say that if they catch it themselves, it should be fine.
I would be wary of feeding it things it would not normally catch, and feeding it at greater frequency than a sundew would in the wild. :)

Drsosera Filiformis can catch one inch prey, they get about sixteen inches tall. Unfortunately, they are a temperate sundew and grow best outside.

I found a nice video of one on Youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CnTV-aZGesI

after some unfortunate newbie feeding antics i have come to the conclusion that feeding the plants unless ABSOLUTELY neccesary is just not good man. I fed my flytraps rolly pollys and lost 3 traps, stupid. Fed one something else and it died, stupid again. So now i leave my plants alone, because photosynthesis is enough food for them. Just because they evolved to catch prey for nutrients, doesnt mean they HAVE to catch prey...they can thrive just fine without eating in fact. I know it is fun and all to watch them close up, or to watch a sundew slowly wrap around its catch...but it is MUCH better to have a beautiful, healthy plant to look at for years to come. I promise, don't sweat the feeding thing!

I think regia can handle pretty big prey...but I could be wrong.

Just let nature take it's coarse my sundews are literally covered with nats and spiders, and my pitchers are filled with ants and slugs, I only feed my plants once a month and I usually get some worms and chop them up , it cruel but it helps! But just let nature handle it
