VFT Media

So, I got my first VFT last week and I found this website on Monday. I have a few questions on media for Venus fly traps.

Can I use compost as soil for my VFT? And should I mix it with anything else?
Has anyone tried this before and are the results fine?

Thanks

I doubt that it will work because it will be too nutrient rich for flytraps. What is the compost composed of? Flytraps grow well in sphagnum peat moss and long fibered sphagnum.

Our preferred mix is 5 parts peat, 3 parts silica sand and 2 parts perlite. You can read more about soil for flytraps here:

It's homemade compost:
vegetable and fruit scraps, boiled eggshells, dead leaves, etc.

I don't believe that would work, there would be way too many nutrients in the media for the flytrap.
