Hey, i found two people that are growing VFTs for 5 years without winter dormancy or anything similar. I thing on this forum no one makes more than 3 years without dormancy,from what i read.. What do you think?

Lots of people do this in tropical countries. The trick is to give them so much energy (light) all year round that they continue dividing at such a pace that death cannot occur. If you can't do that, you will kill your plant as they will be too weak to survive non-optimal light levels.

I don't know If I really put my plants in dormancy though. I moved them to my kitchen table in a sunny south facing spot. The temperature in my house is usually between 60-70 degrees during the winter. A few weeks ago 2 of my VFTs sent up flower stalks. I let them grow a little bigger and then cut them. I don't water them too much maybe once every 2 weeks? I'm seeing very slow growth.

Dormant or not?

Wow, thanks for the info! I have a question about dormancy- I've got one vft outside right now, and about half of its leaves are turning black/brown, and it looks pretty normal. But on the green leaves, the traps are all closed!!! Is this normal? Do they eat insects during dormancy? Because mine sure isnt!

Maybe an insect got in, or wind or other triggered it. My traps closed 2 days ago for no reason also and they are re-opening as well. I fthere is no bug, it will re open very soon
